How to use Storadera's cheap 1 TB storage in Elastio's managed Open Source
Storadera offers 1 TB S3 object storage for all your data. How can we use this inside Elestio for backup purposes?
At a certain point in time you want to backup stuff inside Elestio. Storadere offers 1 TB for around EUR 6 per month flatfee, which is pretty cheap and for that you also get versioning and object locking.
Getting the Storadera settings
The first thing you need to do is to make sure that you have a few things from the Storadera dashboard:
bucket name;
access key;
access secret;
region URL.
Bucket name
You can find this name under the Buckets menu. We have blurred our name.
Access key
For S3 you always need an access key and a secret code.
You can find the code and key under the menu Keys.
Region URL
Currently Storadera has two regions, Central and East. Amsterdam is the location for Central.
It does not really matter which one you choose but we picked Amsterdam.
Configuring Storadera S3 in Elestio
Most of the time you want to backup an installed service in Elestio. Don’t know them? Please check their site. Need help? Let us know.
The first thing to do is to go into your installed Open Source service, in this case a MariaDB.
Above is the list of services created. We pick his one.
You need to select the Backups tab.
When selected you see below.
You can pick the Automated external backups (S3) option.
That is te option to link to AWS S3 or an alternative S3. We use the alternative and fill in the Storadera options.
After clicking Verify Config and Save you can start doing backups.
You will now push a backup in Storadera S3!
